THE HEART BEHIND MILLER MOUNTAIN MEDIA

More Than a Camera. A Calling.

My love for storytelling began long before Miller Mountain Media ever existed.  As a teenager, I spent countless hours filming birds in the backyard and adventures with my friends. I even built my own editing system using old videotape machines and an audio mixer.

I didn't have much equipment, but I had an imagination and a love for capturing life's moments.

The Moment That Changed Everything

When I was sixteen, I lost my father. For his funeral, I gathered old family videos and created a memorial film celebrating his life. As it played, something happened that I would never forget. People laughed. In a room filled with grief, memories brought smiles. For a few moments, people weren't focused on what they had lost, but on the joy of what they had been given. That experience changed the way I saw storytelling. I realized a camera could do more than preserve memories. It could help people find light in darkness, joy in sorrow, and hope in moments that seemed hopeless.

When I Lost My Way

Somewhere along the way, I lost sight of that purpose. I spent years working in television news, where the stories I helped tell often focused on tragedy and suffering. Eventually, I stepped away from filmmaking and pursued another career. During those years, I also faced battles of my own, including addiction and serious health problems that nearly took my life.

But God wasn't finished with my story.

Finding My Way Back to God

Through a journey of faith, healing, and recovery, I experienced God's love and grace in ways I never could have imagined. I found sobriety, regained my health, and began to see my life through an entirely different lens.

And slowly, the joy I had once found behind a camera returned. One day, I felt God placing something on my heart: Make Me a video.

I didn't fully understand what that meant, but I began working on it. What started as a single project became something much greater. Through the people I've met, the stories I've heard, and the opportunities to serve others, I began to understand that perhaps God wasn't simply asking me to make a video. He was teaching me to see the way He sees them. Loved. Valuable. Created with purpose. Worthy of being heard.

The Heart Behind the Mission

That's the heart behind Miller Mountain Media. It's not about recognition, awards, or building a successful production company. It's about using the gifts God has given me to listen, encourage, and remind others that their lives matter. Whether it's a nonprofit serving its community, a small business built from someone's dream, or an individual walking through a difficult chapter, I believe every story deserves compassion and care.

My prayer is that through this work, people might discover a little more hope, a little more joy, and a deeper understanding of just how much God loves them. Because I've learned something through my own journey. Even in the chapters we would never have chosen, God can create something beautiful.  And sometimes, all it takes is someone willing to listen to help us see it.

With love and gratitude,

John Miller
